Together we will discuss how business shapes the way we consume fashion, explore retail shops and subcultures from across the globe, and interview fashion insiders on the ins and outs of the industry.
About Me
I was the kid who kept a notebook filled with sketches and hosted fashion shows at home for my parents and sisters. That kid cherished the dream of working in fashion someday, but due to the lack of opportunities in Haiti, she pursued a traditional field when she moved to New York.
Ironically, New York would be the place that opened her eyes to the possibility of that first dream. While I studied neuroscience in college, I modeled for my school’s magazine, won third place at an essay contest, and launched my fashion media platform NYCXCLOTHES. I also interned at CollegeFashionista and Hearst Magazines, juggling these unpaid opportunities with the hope that they would count for something.
With this Substack, my goal is to write the next chapter in my fashion journalism story. I find joy in reading books and finding connections between seemingly disparate sources of information. I love watching documentaries that complete my understanding of a designer’s philosophy or help me grasp the magnitude of an issue people should care about. I am inspired by the independent journalists and publications that are challenging mainstream media by asking the hard questions and finding the missing links. I hope you will join me in my journey to do the same.
